Millstone Data Type (KINDAT) Codes
KINDAT is a mandatory field in the prologue of all CEDAR format
records. The CEDAR format allows records with different KINDATs to
be interleaved. MADRIGAL files are required to contain only one
KINDAT. KINDAT is defined as follows (CEDAR Data Base Format, May,
1990).
The KINDAT (word or field number 4) code has an important
function, to identify the analysis algorithm used to produce the
data. The meaning of a particular KINDAT code is documented in the
accompanying Header Record (which is uniquely identifiable by
matching the KINDAT and KINST codes for a given
experiment).
Millstone Hill Radar basic parameters have always been assigned
KINDAT=3001. The following list proposes a more extensive KINDAT
list which will serve to distinguish the data aquisition system and
the version of the analysis algorithm used to produce the file.
Codes are also defined for derived parameters.
